What's New

This page generally only reports changes to the client, and not additions to the world. You will have to explore to find the additions to the world.

We occasionally receive requests for static links to the latest and greatest downloads. The links used on the main page change every update and thus are unsuitable for that purpose. The following links will download the indicated file: Mac OS 7,8,9, Mac OS X, Windows. These links require javascript to be enabled. Enjoy.

3/27/2008 v539
He dares to be a fool, and that is the first step in the direction of wisdom. - James Gibbons Huneker

  • No crashes in 723 days and counting.
  • Sometimes it's worth pausing to remember our origins.
  • You'll have to explore to discover this Chaos Storm's other changes. Enjoy!

3/5/2008 v536
All life is an experiment. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

  • No crashes in 701 days and counting.
  • The giant Windows client-and-data package has been fixed.
  • The experimental @my.shares_out and @my.shares_in macro feature mentioned last time is now available in the Windows client too. But it's still experimental.
  • You'll have to explore to discover this Chaos Storm's other changes. Enjoy!

2/13/2008 v533
Get around people who have something of value to share with you. Their impact will continue to have a significant effect on your life long after they have departed. - Jim Rohn, "motivational speaker"

  • A rare bug that crashed the client when running very long macros (usually from bard songs) has been fixed.
  • We're aware of some problems with the new account pages and are working on them. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we sort things out.
  • New (experimental) macro features in the Mac client: @my.shares_in and @my.shares_out, holding your incoming and outgoing sharers' names (in simple_name form). You can count how many incoming shares you have like so:
    set sharers @my.shares_in
    set num_shares sharers.num_words

and extract them individually using sharers.word[1], sharers.word[2], etc.

Warning, this feature is preliminary. Use it at your own risk -- but if you do find any problems, please report them! Once we get the bugs ironed out, if it turns out to be widely useful, it'll be added to the Windows client as well.

1/23/2008 v530
There is this difference between happiness and wisdom, that he that thinks himself the happiest man really is so; but he that thinks himself the wisest is generally the greatest fool. - Charles Caleb Colton

  • No crashes in 659 days and counting.
  • You'll have to explore to discover this Chaos Storm's changes. Enjoy!
